Media Files and Viewing Options
Media viewer display location
When opening media items with Clooz's viewer the first time in a Clooz work session, display the viewer either internally (within Clooz Window), externally (separate Window), or however the viewer was last used (in previous session of Clooz). If the location is changed by the user during a work session, the new location is maintained. Items displayed using the default Windows Viewer are always in a separate Window. (Default: As Last)
Use Clooz image viewer
Use Clooz media viewer for image files (otherwise the Windows system default application is used). Each media file can be individually set to use the Windows system default viewer, overriding this general setting. (Default: checked)
Use Clooz pdf viewer
Use Clooz media viewer for pdf files (otherwise the Windows system default application is used). Each media file can be individually set to use the Windows system default viewer, overriding this general setting. (Default: checked)
Use Clooz spreadsheet viewer
Use Clooz media viewer for spreadsheet files (otherwise the Windows system default application is used). Each media file can be individually set to use the Windows system default viewer, overriding this general setting. (Default: checked)
Use Clooz text viewer
Use Clooz media viewer for text files (otherwise the Windows system default application is used). Each media file can be individually set to use the Windows system default viewer, overriding this general setting. (Default: checked)
Compress media thumbnails when space exceeded
Smaller thumbnail images will be displayed when the accumulated height of all media item thumbnails in the media panel exceeds the available screen space.
Use alternate file selection method in Media Panels
When selecting files to be added to Clooz records in the Media
A digital file containing an image, text, spreadsheet, video, audio, or any other format. Media can be attached to various records in Clooz as digital representations of source document content, or as Information Records (as photographs, maps, videos, or audio independent of a specific source document). Panel of applicable editors (Select New File button), an alternate tool will be used which identifies whether files are already linked to Clooz records. Use this method to help identify information files not yet entered into Clooz. Otherwise, the standard Windows Open File Dialog is used. Note: Regardless of which tool is the default, the other method can be selected by holding the Ctrl or Shift key down while clicking on the Select New File button.
Automatically refresh the Media Explorer after editing records
When in automatic mode, the Media Explorer is updated and refreshed when the Information Record
Information Records in Clooz hold the content information coming from a document or another source. The Information Record differs from a Source record which contains most of the citation information that describes the document or the Repository record that is referring to the facility or an online service where the document was found., Source
A Source record in Clooz should be viewed as the higher-level component of one or more source citations. Source citation details are usually included in the citing Information Record. or Repository
A Repository is where a source document or item was found. This could be a physical library facility, an online data provider, or even your own personal files. editors are closed. Otherwise, refreshes only occur when the Refresh button is clicked in the Media Explorer. (Default: Automatic Mode)
Default root media folder
This directory location represents your preferred root directory for where media items will be stored. It can be overridden when saving media files. (Default: [Clooz Data Folder]\Media)
